WALL WORK
Men and Women called of God and Anointed to work in the Kingdom of the Most High. I awoke on this Lord’s Day to give praises to God for his unmerited grace and favor in my life and to meditate upon the spiritual things He has given us in the living word. I read the word of God with attentiveness and conviction and wrote it upon the tables of my heart. Finding in it the riches of his grace and the glory of his wisdom; I pondered the present days and the will of God for my life and the life of my brethren who are also anointed and commissioned to ministry. There is indeed a wellspring of knowledge which never ceases to amaze me; a fountain of life that brings refreshing to the soul. God has called us to build and to repair the breach through the administration of his word. One scripture after another stood out in my spiritual mind and I took note of his magnificence. Is your heart strong in faith; believing in the power and might of the Lord?
(15) For thus says the High and Exalted One who inhabits eternity, whose Name is Holy: “I dwell in a high and holy place, yet also with a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and revive the heart of the contrite. Isaiah 57:15
Our strength comes through our humility and contrition; when we are truly remorseful over our sins and shortcomings. Our strength comes through getting the concept of being demonstrators of the word and not just listeners. Our observation needs to turn into participation. The Lord is high and exalted yet he contrite and humble; we see how humble and meek the Son of God walked upon this earth. Yet we can be firm and stern in our convictions. When the Spirit of Revival is pursuing God’s people it is because they become diluted and polluted in compromise. He comes for us as our Shepherd to restore us to the flock of God; heed and yield to that beckoning and find refreshing and renewal.
(6) Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
(7) Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
(8) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
(9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
(10) For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
(11) So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
We have a commission but not without opposition! When we build for God there will be opposition!
Opposition through ridicule: people will mock with words that make fun of the work.
Opposition through threats: people will organize themselves against you to get your attention off the work.
Opposition through discouragement: thoughts will pierce the mind of failure.
Opposition through extortion: people will use their deny finances to hinder the work.
Opposition through compromise: people will want you to waiver in your commitment to the work.
Opposition through slander: people will us lies to give a bad reputation to stop the work.
Opposition through treachery: people will even plot to kill you to stop the work.
I found these oppositions in the book of Nehemiah as subtitles in my bible. Nehemiah faced great obstacles when he was restoring the wall around Jerusalem. God called and commission him to the task. Nehemiah is an example of a godly leader. He did not take advantage of his position and dedicated himself to God and put his trust and safety in God’s hands. The Lord returned to Nehemiah wisdom for the work and the worth of that work was restoration of safety for God’s holy city.
Brethren we are workers on the wall of the Heavenly Jerusalem. We are repairers of the breach and restoration workers in the Kingdom of our Lord. Let us continue to be renewed to accomplish the work God has anointed us to do; yes we will face opposition all along the way! But the restoration of others and ourselves will be worth the fight of faith! Selah!
