FRUIT; ROTTEN OR SUPERB
(16) Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
(17) Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
(18) A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
(19) Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
(20) Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
(21) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 7:16-21 KJV
This is another day to have a chance to put our Living Christ on display, we are called to be witnesses of the Risen Savior who resides within us through the Holy Spirit. So many are silently watching us; and may base their conclusion concerning giving or not giving their lives to Jesus by the actions they see on display in our lives. Those in the world around us are fruit inspectors and are usually able to detect when someone’s fruit does not line up with their presumptions of Christianity.
When we walk the talk we build validity, and thereby the confidence in those whom we intend to witness the plan of salvation. Harvesting souls within the context of our public life takes cultivation, much of that cultivation is done through the content of our character which is viewed by those in which we come into daily contact.
Our opening scripture speaks of the judgment of Christ who is also viewing our fruit, but not just the outer display but also the inward motive. The fruit which is displayed publicly should be motivated by who we are privately. If privately we practice our faith through having a personal relationship our public practice will not be a display of enemy religion.
Today we have a lot of hybrids in the produce industry, a hybrid is genetically engineered to produce a plant that has more volume, but does not have the ability to reproduce after its kind. Spiritually that would be considered rotten fruit, why? Bulk is not the aim of developing our spiritual fruit, proliferation or in other words reproducing after our kind, as we are begotten by the Word, our aim should be to live a life that leads others to be begotten by the Word.
Brethren, keep the faith today by determining to have such a relationship with God, when you are in the world; just like Moses the glory of God will glow through your countenance.
The other day, my next door neighbor pulled up and I stuck my head out of the back door where I was doing some things in the kitchen, I greeted her with an innocent joke and a chuckle, then she keeping with the spirit of the jest said, “ Well “! To which I replied, well neighbor I wouldn’t want to be anti-social, she then replied “ I could never see you being anti-social, I would know something was wrong if you ever became anti-social “. I have had to opportunity to counsel this neighbor, because of the fruit which is put on display.
Brethren. Is your fruit rotten or superb? Is it delightful or depredating, is it enticing or nauseating, is it inviting or repelling. Strive to be pleasing to God and others will gravitate to your Christ like disposition. “If you want to have friends show yourself friendly “, and in so doing you can cultivate a soul for the harvest. This has been a faith fact from a faith perspective!
