A PLACE OF JOY
There is a place in our lives called joy, many strive for happiness and never have any joy. I am not talking about fleeting moments of hysterical laughter brought on by some incident, I am talking about clinging joy, prevailing joy, joy as a lifestyle.
(1) And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
(2) Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
(3) Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
(4) And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
(5) Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
(6) Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee. Isaiah 12:1-6 KJV
As the blood bought redeemed of the Lord we should remember how God delivered us from sin and empowered us to live holy. A holiness that is not inundated with joy is not a holiness which was drawn from the wells of salvation. A lifestyle that does not continually exalt the Lord is a lifestyle which shall yield no joy. Even though God is abundantly generous in blessing his children, our joy should not be based upon earthly possessions.
(17) Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
(18) Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
(19) The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments. Habakkuk 3:17-19 KJV
Notice here even though the reality of lack loomed all around, the lack of food, the lack of the ability to make clothing, the lack of a profit, the prophet spoke profoundly of an inner strength which was not based upon earthly supply, but an aspiration of the inclination to praise his Lord and to rejoice and live in that joy through the Sprit, by praising himself into the place of God’s presence. Exuberantly expressing the joy he had not only praising from the heart but putting his body into the place of his presence by jumping and spinning with glee at the merriment within him for the love he had for the Lord.
Rejoice > ‛âlaz aw-laz' : A primitive root; to jump for joy, that is, exult: - be joyful, rejoice, triumph
Joy > gı̂yl gûl gheel, gool : A primitive root; properly to spin around (under the influence of any violent emotion), that is, usually rejoice, or (as cringing) fear: - be glad, joy, be joyful, rejoice.
Love is the door to joy, it is by receiving his agape love and learning that love gives us the ability to find fidelity with tenacity to be obedient thereby enforcing our joy through abiding in Him.
(9) As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
(10) If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
(11) These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. John 15:9-11 KJV
Joy > chara : khar-ah' ; cheerfulness, that is, calm delight: - gladness, greatly, (be exceeding) joy (-ful, -fully, -fulness, -ous).
Jesus revealed this important principle so that we could live in the place of cheerfulness and delightfulness which calms the depths of our spirit and soul. But unfortunately so many today look for those qualities in things which will never satisfy and miss the mark of living in the fullness of joy. So Brethren:
(16) Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
(17) For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
(18) For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
(19) Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. Romans 14:16-19 KJV
Let us strive to enter into his presence and never leave it, in the trying times, in the lacking times, in life’s abusive times, in those times we feel pressed beyond measure, and in those times we feel isolated, let us press into his presence with a holy fervor of praise. Let us look to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, and pursue him with all that is within us, so that in finding Him, we find ourselves in a place of redemptive power, we find ourselves in the place of wisdom utilization, we find ourselves in the middle of his perfect will, and we find ourselves filled with his Spirit continually.
(15) See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
(16) Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
(17) Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
(18) And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
(19) Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
(20) Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Ephesians 5:15-20 KJV
Brethren keep the faith by keeping the Joy of the Lord which is definitely our strength to face every situation and circumstance that arises against us, I know its easier said that done, but finding it will be worth the race which was ran. Remember to speak to who? ( yourselves ) reciting psalms, and hymn and spiritual songs to generate melody in your hearts to exalt the Lord and by all means be thankful in all things for the grace of God which is abundantly poured out like a drink offering upon you.
Shalom & Agape!
