WHERE FORGIVENESS FLOWS IN ABUNDANCE OF THE LIGHT
When one fails God that one hurts themselves while also hurting God. We often look at failure as a one sided ordeal which only hurts one individual. However every moral lapse in judgment is a precedent of pain for everyone who is affected by it. When a Christian fails God his heart aches for that individual because he feels the betrayal of that action. His response must act in accordance with his righteousness.
Yes is ready to restore instantly the repentant of heart; but the repercussions of that failure will work its way out in the community of those affected by that same failure. It is a fact that people hurt people by the actions they take. Betrayal is a hard pill to swallow and by those affected and the means of forgiveness is often a long process.
Many will harbor hurt in their hearts for years, and it will manifest each time they hear, see, or think about the person(s) who hurt them. Even though the bible teaches us to forgive it is a process that often takes time. Then the issue of trust comes into the arena of the heart which is another process and sometimes is never given again depending upon the severity of the failure which is usually an assault or offense upon the heart. However the importance of forgiveness is that it is being utilized by the offended especially when a peace offering of apology is given by the offender.
Confession of sin, failure, or betrayal is essential for the implementation of forgiveness.
(9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
(10) If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1st John 1:9-10 KJV
Once a person is willing to confess the reality of their own failure they open themselves up for examination based on truth. The Psalmist declared “at the entrance of thy word there is light”. We know that light shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot overpower it. In the gospel of John, the word for darkness denotes the darkness of sin and its depths in the soul of man. God is light; which is an all revealing light which confronts the moral condition of the human experience. God’s light is the life of men, and has no darkness or immorality in it at all.
(5) This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
(6) If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
(7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
(8) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1st John 1:5-8 KJV
God is a God of forgiveness; he doesn’t wrestle with himself or deny himself his own divine precept concerning the repentant sinner who beseeches him for the cleansing of the soul. Although with the human heart that is hurting the process is often more at length; but the good news is that God wants us to be whole, so that whether we are the perpetrator of pain or the victim of its viciousness. God’s light of love is there to obtain as we approach him in prayer. We are called stewards of reconciliation and we are ambassadors of grace. The bible teaches us to forgive and we shall be forgiven. It is hard to hold on to hatred when one’s heart is filled with the light of love.
Brethren let us keep the faith today by walking in the cleansing light of God’s love and the restoring power of the LORD’s blood. Un-forgiveness is just as much of a sin as the offense; therefore let us learn the art of forgiveness, reconciliation, and restoration. Selah
