PRACTICAL FAITH
(1) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 KJV
Faith is a substance, a spiritual sense, and a conviction which surpasses the natural senses. It is the steadfastness of the renewed spiritual mind that holds us firm in our convictions. Our faith in the word of God breaks the limitations of the senses which can only comprehend the world and then it expands our knowledge of the spiritual realities which can fortify our belief in the supernatural abilities of the Eternal Omniscient mind and abilities of Elohim. The justified shall live by faith!
He that has spiritual ears to hear let him hear:
(25) See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
(26) Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
(27) And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
(28) Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
(29) For our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:25-29 KJV
It is imperative that we heed the gospel of salvation; which also brings with it the truth of the judgement for sins. To refuse is to reject and our rejection of the message of grace and the things which accompany it; is the rejection of Christ. We thereby judge ourselves and bring condemnation upon ourselves through that rejection.
The Kingdom of God will reign eternal and the message of the Kingdom is designed to revolutionize the hearts of men and bring paradigm shifts which can temporary change governments, economies, etc. for the purposes of God. However in this passage of scripture we are told of a shaking which will remove everything which can be shaken leaving only the unshakable Kingdom of God.
The undisputable fact is that God hates sin; therefore let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: Why? God is still a consuming fire concerning his wrath against sin!
(24) For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God. Deuteronomy 4:24 KJV
God will remove all the things of this creation that provoke sin and rebellion. God changes the changeable and moves the moveable that only the immutable remains; His kingdom is permanent and unmovable. Let us seek to remain in the Kingdom of Heaven. It is God’s desire to shake our lives in such a way that those things which are not eternal shall be shaken off and only the godly attributes of the Spirit remain and thereby we reflect the Kingdom values which are eternal and pleasing to God.
(6) For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
(7) If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
(8) But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Hebrews 12:6-8 KJV
(11) My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
(12) For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. Proverbs 3:11-12 KJV
It’s a fact that many are too immature to believe that God chastises his children. The adage that “Father knows best” certainly applies to God. I have heard ministers who’ve been in ministry for years blame the devil for what I could see clearly as chastisement. Those who aren’t true Christians; in them chastisement bleeds contempt. For the maturing Christian chastisement produces temperance and humility; it brings an appreciation for the love of the Father who cares enough to never let our rebellion go unpunished. A Father who never lets us stray to the point of apostasy; who allows afflictions and adversities to rein us back into the fold of his flock which are his sons and daughters. Everything we encounter comes to pass either by His direct appointment, or by His direct permission.
(28) And we know all things work together for the good of those who love God, and are the called according to his purposes. Romans 8:28
Everything is definitely not good; but for the earnest Christian all things work in conjunction with the will of God for our ultimate good; even when it doesn’t feel so good. We are still talking about chastisement here; yet when we are flowing in the good, acceptable, and perfect of God is not the author of any afflictions; but contrary-wise it is the conflicts of the adversary who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Brethren; many times we try to super spiritualize things which brings us to an unbalance assessment of the dynamics of life in the Kingdom. We must realize that many spiritual principles have practical applications.
Philo a Christian Jewish commentator says of wisdom, “She is the effulgence of the everlasting Light, the unspotted mirror of the power of God, and the image of His goodness.”
Hence brethren; when we seek to walk in God’s will which is the gospel of grace; we are walking in God’s wisdom. We will not be as James wrote; one who looks in a mirror then walks off and immediately forgets the image he saw; but contrary-wise we will be doers of the word and not hearers only.
Brethren let us walk in the light as Christ is our light. Let us seek the word, wisdom, and will of God walking in practical faith exercising the faith which is the substance of things hoped for and the wonderful evidence of things not seen! Keep the faith and the faith will keep you! Selah!
